NC lawmaker dares PM: ‘Hoist tri-colour in Lahore or give up Kashmir’

“For years, people of border areas are dying untimely deaths. Now enough is enough, it’s time to take a call and if PM has courage he should look forward (to taking on Pakistan) or leave claims on Kashmir,” he said.

A National Conference legislator today challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unfurl tri-colour in Pakistan’s Lahore or give up the country’s claim on Kashmir.

“The Prime Minister talked too much but did very little for maintaining peace on the borders,” NC MLA Javed Rana said in Mendhar, where five of a family died yesterday in cross-LoC shelling.

“This is the voice of entire border area; the people become pawns because of enmity between two nations. I want to ask the Prime Minister, sitting in New Delhi, that how long would you do politics on our dead bodies, now we are fed-up with this (border tension),” he said.

“For years, people of border areas are dying untimely deaths. Now enough is enough, it’s time to take a call and if PM has courage he should look forward (to taking on Pakistan) or leave claims on Kashmir,” he said.

“Modi sahib, if you believe in your words we want you to enter Pakistan and unfurl tri-colour in Lahore. And if your words are hollow, then leave Kashmir because we are not ready to die untimely deaths anymore.”

Rana is representative of Mendhar assembly constituency and was addressing the people during his visit to firing affected areas, where five members of a family were killed in Pakistan’s shelling.
