Patwaris call on CM, put forth demands

A delegation of All J&K Patwar Association called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her about their grievances and demands.

A delegation led by state provincial president Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad Baba, as per spokesperson, informed CM about their demands including grade pay of graduate patwaris, abolishing direct recruitment of naib tehsildar, placement of GQs to the post of naib tehsildar, timely DPC of Patwaris and GQs.

“Teacher in the Education department and an accounts assistant in the finance department having graduation as the basic qualification at the time of appointment is placed in the pay band of 5200-20200 + G.P 2800 ( SRO 225 dated 18.08.2005 and SRO. 94 dated 23.03.2007) while as a Patwari having graduation as basic qualification at the time of appointment is placed in the pay band of 5200-20200 + G.P 2400. This is sheer injustice,” he said that delegation told the CM.

“We demand abolition of direct recruitment of NTs at an earliest. Department has hundreds of experienced PSC qualified Girdawars who can take up the job effectively and with almost no burden on state exchequer,” he added.

He added that timely DPC of Patwaris and GQs after every six months is a right of patwaris and GQs. “Non conducting of timely DPC results in stagnation and violation of rights of our community. We demand that DPC may be convened at an earliest to provide justice to the aggrieved,” he said.

The spokesperson said that CM gave them patient hearing and assured the redressal of grievances shortly.
