Terming the ruling Peoples Democratic Party as “the creation of New Delhi” to “fragment the voice of the people of J&K,” opposition National Conference on Tuesday said that “PDP founder Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was part of Governments which eroded State’s special position between 1953 and 1975.”
Speaking on the Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly, NC MLA, Aga Ruhullah, said: “After National Conference passed the Autonomy resolution in 2000, New Delhi conspired to fragment the voice of the people. And this conspiracy led to the birth of PDP.”
He said Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was responsible for massacres in Kashmir because “it was he who sent Jagmohan as Governor to the State.”
“If Jagmoghan ordered massacres in Kashmir, it was your father who sent him,” he told CM Mehbooba Mufti. “You often say NC rigged the 1987 polls. Was not your father, who was then part of Congress, a party to this rigging as NC and Congress were in alliance then?” he asked the CM.
Responding to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s criticism of NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Ruhullah said: “In Kashmir Mehooba Ji accuses Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah of betraying Kashmiris, but in New Delhi she says that he (Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah) was responsible for sowing the seeds of separatism and secession in Kashmir.”
He also slammed the CM for not taking responsibility for the 2016 civilian killings, saying, “Mehbooba Ji is holding everybody responsible for the bloodbath except herself.”
“She is accusing everybody – parents, politicians and businessmen for the killings but is portraying herself as a victim and oppressed,” he said.
“You (Mehbooba Mufti) don’t know whether to side with aggressors or victims. On one hand you question the killing of Burhan but on the other you justify the killing. You don’t know whether to keep New Delhi or Kashmiris in good humour.”
Accusing PDP of double standards, the NC lawmaker said, “The party joined hands with same Modi whom it held responsible for the massacre of Gujarat Muslims.”
“PDP used to tell people to vote for it to keep BJP away from power but later you joined hands with the same party,” he said.
