The Jammu and Kashmir Government Wednesday said it would clear all liabilities of media outlets on account of advertisements by March 31.
“We have decided to clear all liabilities by March 31,” Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu announced in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
He also announced that Government will increase advertisement tariff. “There has been no revision (in advertisement rates) since 2013. Due to inflation and increase in newsprint cost, we have decided to increase the rates,” he said.
He also announced to set up “ Aiwaan-e-Shafat” in Srinagar for journalists in Srinagar. “The building currently occupied by the Employment department at Polo View Srinagar will be handed over to the journalist fraternity for setting up “Aiwan-e-Shafat, a Kashmir Press Centre,” Drabu said.
