Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today flayed the state authorities for closing private coaching centers, terming it their ‘egoistic approach’.

“The state administration is following the RSS agenda and this dictatorial order is aimed at ruining the future of our students. The authorities have failed to deliver any good, and their activities are aimed at pleasing their masters in New Delhi. All the orders are being issued from Nagpur,” Geelani, in a statement today, said.

He said, “It is ridiculous and shameful for these stooges to blame students for stone throwing. The state diktat carries no sense. The state authorities, while destroying all the sectors including business, education and economic activities are fomenting trouble and making situations explosive.”

Referring to the private coaching centres, Geelani said, “Exceptions are everywhere and leaving aside a few drawbacks, these institutions have contributed a lot in reforming the society while as corruption and nepotism are the hallmarks of government sponsored institutions. These private coaching centres can contribute a lot if they follow sacred values instead of business interests.”

Condemning the arrest of Dukhtran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson Syeda Asiya Andrabi and her personal secretary Fehmeeda Sofi, Geelani demanded their immediate release.

“The state government is at war with the pro-freedom people of the state and her detention is an acceptance of defeat on the part of those who are bragging slogans like ‘battle of ideas’,” he said.

Terming Asiya’s arrest as ‘unjustified’, Geelani said, “Her husband Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo is in jail for the past 30 years.”

He appealed to the ICRC, Amnesty International (AI) and other international human rights organisations to take cognizance of these arrests, and use their influence for immediate release of all detainees.

Meanwhile, Geelani has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the wife of the convener of Hurriyat Conference, Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), Ghulam Muhammad Safi, praying for the deceased and expressing solidarity with the bereaved family.
