Handwara police produce challan against acid attacker

SSP Handwara Gulam Jeelani Wani had constituted the SIT headed by SDPO Handwara and had directed SIT to produce charge-sheet against the accused as early as possible.

Handwara Police have produced a charge-sheet against an accused involved in acid attack within one month.

The accused namely Ajaz Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Hassan Dar had allegedly thrown acid with the assistance of Muhammad Abass Najar S/o Muhammad Yaqub Najar both residents of Palpora Kralgund on a girl (name withheld) and fled away. In this regard a case FIR 14/2017 US 326-A,452 and 109 RPC was registered in PS Kralgund and a SIT (Special investigation team) was constituted headed by SDPO Handwara Shabir A Khan. The team concluded the investigation and arrested the accused within 24 hours. The team completed all medico legal formalities, along with getting expert opinion from FSL within stipulated time period.

During the same time accused had applied for interim bail which was not validated by Handwara Court.

SSP Handwara Gulam Jeelani Wani had constituted the SIT headed by SDPO Handwara and had directed SIT to produce charge-sheet against the accused as early as possible.

Locals have widely hailed the prompt action of Handwara Police in this case.
