The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh highway has been closed due to fresh snowfall since late Wednesday night.

Reports said that the highway, linking Ladakh region with Kashmir valley, was closed after fresh snowfall at Sonamarg, Zojila and Meenamarg.

However, Srinagar-Jammu highway and historic Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region are through for traffic, a traffic police official was quoted as saying by a news agency.

A MeT spokesman has predicted moderate to heavy rains and snow across Jammu and Kashmir from Dec 11 to Dec 15.

He said that a Western Disturbance likely to hit the state from Dec 11 will hit the movement of traffic on the highways.
