The Kashmir University (KU) Vice-Chancellor has suspended two top varsity officials for their involvement in the embezzlement of lakhs of rupees in procurement of hard-coke for the department use.
A top official in the varsity told Greater Kashmir that the two officials involved in the scam have been attached to the office of the Chief proctor of the Kashmir University
The official said the two officials- Assistant Registrar and Assistant Estate officer of the KU’s Estate department were put under suspension on Monday for “dereliction of their duties” by the Vice Chancellor.
“The two officials were suspended on basis of the preliminary investigations carried out by the in house committee constituted by the varsity administration to probe the case,” the officials said.
The officials said the departmental inquiry is still on against the accused officials while a charge sheet will be produced against them as well. An FIR has already been registered at Police station Nigeen.
Vice-Chancellor KU Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi confirmed the suspension of the two officials for the involvement in the embezzlement of funds.
“Yes two officials have been put under suspension and further action will be taken by the administration as per law,” Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Indrabi said.
