The BJP on Thursday distanced itself from the vitriolic remarks of its minister Chandra Prakash Ganga who recently said the youths throwing stones should be dealt with bullets only.

“This (the minister’s statement) is not BJP’s stand and we don’t subscribe to what he has said,” said senior BJP leader Ashok Koul.  He said the BJP’s focus was to “provide good governance.”

However, he said the party has always condemned the stone pelting by youth in Kashmir who, he said, were being “provoked by vested elements”.
