Three held for abducting, raping minor girls in Bandipora: Police

Police have arrested two persons accused of abducting and raping two minor girls in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, an official said today.

He said that Yasir Khursheed Ganai and Ehsan Akbar Mir - both residents of Kaloosa - were arrested after police station Bandipora received complaints from the families of two minor girls (names withheld), aged 15 and 16.

The official said that the accused had “abducted” the minor girls on 14 May while they were on way to their tuition centres.

After “abduction”, the girls were taken to Pahalgam, he said.

 “The accused raped them for two days in a solitary place in Pahalgam. Both the girls were recovered and the accused were arrested with the help of Anantnag police today,” he said.

The official said that a team was constituted under the supervision of SHO Bandipora Syed Gazanfur under the supervision of SP Bandipora Zulfikar Azad after complaints were received.

“Both the minor girls were recovered and accused were arrested within 48 hours,” he said.

SHO Bandipora, Syed Gazanfur told Greater Kashmir that a case vide FIR No. 68/2017 under section 363/376 RPC was registered against the accused.

In another similar incident, a person was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Arin village of Bandipora on the intervening night of 9 and 10 May.

“Bandipora police received a complaint from the victim girl on Monday and soon investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation one Shamroz Ahmad Malik resident of Sumlar village was arrested after found involved in raping the minor on the intervening night of 9 and 10 May,” said an official.

He said that a case vide FIR No. 66/2017 under section 376 RPC was registered against the accused in police station Bandipora.
