Massive protest against the killings of Rohingya Muslims was held in Kargil on Wednesday.

Thousands of people from various areas of Kargil assembled at Jamia Masjid Kargil to express resentment against killing of Rohingyas in Myanmar by the forces.

The protest was held under the banner of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil (IKMT). The protestors marched from Jamia Masjid Kargil and passed through Islamia School Chowk.

Addressing protestors at Lal Chowk, MLA Kargil, Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai said that “the forced expulsion of Rohingyas from Myanmar and their cleansing is a test for Muslims living in sub continent. We condemn the attack on Rohingyas and also criminal silence of Muslim Countries and UN based human rights organization on these atrocities”.

“The present government in centre is trying to change the demography of State. People of Kargil must rise above party line and be ready to resist the move so that events like Rohingyas would not replicate in J&K,” he said.
