Bandipora: A deserted Patwar Khana at Ajas here is being used for social evils making the lives of inhabitants miserable.
Locals said the Patwar Khana is not being used for official purposes by the Revenue authorities. “The deserted building is thronged by drug addicts. Ironically the police and Revenue authorities are acting as mute spectators. The presence of drug addicts and gamblers in the area has hampered the movement of people particularly females,’” they said.
The locals said the Revenue officials are functioning from a rented building. “They pay thousand of rupees as rent. The Revenue officials are allegedly withdrawing money in the name of repairing the Patwar Khana without making use of the building,” the locals alleged.
They further complained that the Revenue officials are hardly present in the area.
“We face hardships to process our cases and obtain land records as these officials remain absent,” they said.
Meanwhile, the Tehsildar Submal, Muzzafer Ahmed, said that the building will be utilized for the official purpose subject to availability of funds.
“The Patwar Khana is in a dilapidated condition. We have written to the Financial Commissioner Kashmir for release of funds for its repairs,” he added.
