63rd U-19 National School Games: J&K boys miss qualification

J&K hopes of qualification were hanging on the match between Kerala and IPS. Kerala won that match by 1-0 and qualified for quarterfinal from the group.

Despite three out of four wins, J&K Under-19 boy’s team missed qualification into quarterfinal of the 63rd U-19 National School Games-Football as Kerala made their way into knockout stage from the group.

In the event, being played at Navi Mumbai, J&K boys Under-19 team won their last group match on Friday. They thrashed Mizoram by 3-0 goals. Shakir Ahmad, Mohammad Saad and Ali Fazilli were the scorers for J&K side. With that J&K finished group campaign with three wins and one defeat out of four matches played.

J&K hopes of qualification were hanging on the match between Kerala and IPS. Kerala won that match by 1-0 and qualified for quarterfinal from the group. Kerala finished group stage with four wins out of four while as J&K had won three. Their only loss came against Kerala.

In the league stage, J&K boys had defeated IPS by 3-1 goals. Naish Ansari had scored twice while as Mohammad Saad scored one. In another match, J&K defeated NVS by 2-0 goals. Naish Ansari and Mohammad Saad were the goal scorers for J&K.
