Incharge Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Dr Shafqat Khan today said the Corporation will issue prompt building permissions that shall be endorsed on an application only with regard to repairs and renovations.
“Obtaining building permission for repairs/renovations will no more be a lengthy process as it takes precious time and energy of the applicant. All that will be required is the submission of application by the applicant along with the prerequisite documents before the concerned ward officers of their areas. The concerned ward officer after going through the documents will have site inspection and directly put up his report before Commissioner for the approval. This will not only save time of the applicant but will also help to dispose of long pending files to a large extent,” Dr Khan said.
Dr Shafqat instructed the planning wing of SMC to dispose of the building permissions within a stipulated time under Public Service Guarantee Act. “There shall be no inconvenience to people who intend to take building permission. The building permission on the whole has to be a speedy process at large,” he said.
The ward officers had also been directed to conduct site inspection of permitted construction on routine basis in their respective wards ,so that the permittee does not get a chance to deviate from Sanctioned Municipal Plan.
“Meanwhile, five illegal structures coming up at Ali Jan road Eidgah were today demolished by demolition wing of SMC.
Incharge Chief Enforcement Officer Sofi Akbar got all the constructions removed timely with the assistance of Enforcement Officer Mohd Rajab with his concerned team. All these five constructions were going on in an initial stage,” SMC spokesperson said in a statement.
