Police crack blind murder case in Soura

Sources said that police has recovered the tools allegedly used in committing the offence.

With the arrest of three persons, police has cracked a blind murder case of a 62-year old man in Soura locality here.

On May 7, a retired PDD engineer Mehrajudin Mir of Bolochipora Chanapora, Soura, was found lying seriously injured on roadside at Soura. He was rushed to SKIMS Soura by police, however he succumbed to his injuries next day.

Police had formed special team headed by Sub-Inspector Soura, Ghulam Muhammad Rather to investigate the case. The team cracked the case with the arrest of three suspects within few days after the incident.

“It was a blind murder case and the investigation team had to work round the clock to crack it. The case was cracked within few days after the occurrence of offence,” police said. 

Police had registered a case against unidentified accused. Investigations into the matter revealed that the victim, Mir, was hit by some hard tool on his head..

“Police looked into every angle and collected all major and minor clues to bring the accused to the justice,” said sources.

Sources said that police has recovered the tools allegedly used in committing the offence.

Earlier, police had registered a case vide FIR number 22/17 under section 307 but later changed the offence to section 302 after the victim’s death.

“We took Mir to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed later. We have arrested three persons and the investigation is still on,” a police officer said.

Mehrajuddin Mir of Soura who was hit on head by unidentified persons on May 7, this year, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura.

“We have CCTV installed at gate of our house. Mir was hit hard on his head by some unidentified persons just 100 meters away from his house,” said a family member.
