Div Comm records statements

Srinagar, Feb 8: Several eyewitnesses Monday recorded their statements before the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
The Government has appointed Divisional Commissioner as inquiry officer of the killing of Zahid Farooq. The inquiry officer has to complete the investigation within a week and submit the report to the Government.
Sources said number of persons, eyewitness to the gruesome incident approached the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir who started the probe Monday, to depose their statements.
Divisional Commissioner Naseema Lanker when contacted said that the inquiry would be completed within shortest possible time. “People came forward and we have recorded their statements,” she said. “I can’t reveal what they stated but it was good sign that people are coming forward,” she said.
Pertinently, eyewitness had alleged that the BSF personnel on board a gypsy and lorry with Hangul marks had fired upon Zahid and then escaped from the spot. Though people had accused BSF for the killing, the BSF had refuted the allegations. Police have filed an FIR against an unidentified security agency in the killing.
Sources said the forensic team had also recovered a cartridge from the spot.
“The experts have started the probe to ascertain from which gun the bullets were fired,” they said.
Police has also formed a Special Investigation Team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Javed Riyaz Bedar. The SIT has been directed to file its report on day- to-day basis.
