The 20-member J&K cricket team which includes cricketers like Parvez Rasool and Irfan Pathan on Monday left from Srinagar for Chennai to start their Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day tournament.

It is in backdrop of resignations by four member of senior selection committee that J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) went ahead with the team which was selected by the committee for Andhra Pradesh tour.

The team comprises 20-members including Parvez Rasool who is the captain while Irfan Pathan will be playing the role of mentor cum player. 

Sources said with no selector available, JKCA contacted Board of Control for Cricket in India before sending its team for the tournament.

“J&K will be playing its first match on Thursday against Bengal,” said a JKCA official.

“The only addition to team is Parvez Rasool while rest of the players have been part of the team that had gone to Andhra Pradesh and was selected by the committee. The only difference is that instead of sending 16 man squad we are sending 20 members,” he said.

Among others, J&K team also include youngsters like Under-19 cricketer, Rasik Salam, Under-23 cricketers Fazil Rashid and Aaquib Nabi who would be making senior debut at national level.

TEAM: Parvez Rasool (C), Irfan Pathan, Ahmad Banday, Shubham Pundir, Shubham Khajuria, Paras Sharma, Ian Dev Singh, Asif Khan, Fazil Rashid, Waseem Raza, Amir Aziz, Mohammad Mudhasir, Ram Dayal, Umar Nazir, Rohit Sharma, Pranav Gupta, Manik Gupta Manzoor Dar, Rasik Salam and Auqib Nabi.
