Aspirants scheduled to appear in the examination for the posts of Probationary Officer and Banking Associates on Monday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Bank authorities to postpone the tests in view of tension over Pulwama attack.

News gathering agency GNS reported that it received distress calls from many aspirants held up in various states due to the prevailing situation.

“We had planned to appear in the examination by reaching in the nick of time but given the situation which has emerged (in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack), it seems that there is a likelihood that it would not be possible for now,” a student, presently in New Delhi, told GNS over phone.

“We urge authorities to postpone the examination by a reasonable time so as to allow us to appear in the examination which we are sure to miss if the examinations are held as per the already announced schedule in wake of the prevailing situation,” they said.

One of the aspirants called GNS over phone from Bangalore and urged the bank authorities to postpone the examinations.

A number of callers from Jammu said that many aspirants are held up in Jammu amid the Internet blockade and that they are unsure whether they can reach the Valley in due course of time to write the examination.

“We don’t know whether even highway is open or whether we can find any ride to Kashmir. We request the bank authorities to defer the examination for now and announce a later date when situation normalizes,” said an aspirant.
