Demands time bound inquiry into attack

National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday visited party block president of Bijbehara Muhammad Ismail Wani at SMHS Hospital here where he was admitted the other day after being shot at by some unidentified gunmen.

Dr Farooq was accompanied by south zone president Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri and Advisor to party president Mushtaq Guroo.

Dr. Farooq while interacting with relatives of the injured part block president said, “I am here to salute the zeal of our party functionary with which he has been working for the emancipation of masses."

"I pray for his fast recuperation and good health. I hope he will rise again to take forward the mission of serving people. Such dastardly acts would not deter us from serving people," he said in a statement. 

Dr. Farooq impressed upon the hospital authorities to give best of the medical treatment to the party functionary. “It is regrettable to see unarmed people being attacked at. I condemn the attack unequivocally in the strongest terms. I pray for the fast his recovery.”

 Party president also called for time bound inquiry into the attack. “The perpetrators behind the attack should be brought to justice. It is the prime duty of the incumbent governor administration to ensure a safe environment for the political workers to carry forward their work,” adding, “ the incumbent governor administration has miserably failed to ensure safety and security of the political workers.”

Meanwhile, the party statement said Dr. Farooq  visited Asar- e- Shareef Hazratbal and offered Zuhr prayers there praying for prosperity of the state.
