As the rumours about coming up of an alternative coalition fly thicker, the BJP's national general secretary Ram Madhav is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir for two days from July 21, party sources said. His itinerary includes a visit to Bhasoli in Kathua, the constituency represented by Choudhary Lal Singh. Singh purportedly played a BJP rebel for months after his sacking for supporting the persons accused of rape and murder of a minor Bakarwal girl. But he was later placated during his meeting with BJP chief Amit Shah in Delhi.

Madhav during his visit will be meeting BJP leaders, MLAs and other office bearers and his tour will be followed by executive body meeting of BJP on 29 July. Party sources said Madhav's visit is focused around renewing the BJP's election strategy in Jammu region ahead of Lok Sabha poll due next summer.

Madhav’s visit and arrangements for executive meeting were given final shape at a meeting of BJP's state leaders on Sunday evening in Jammu. The meeting was presided over by the BJP's state president Ravinder Raina and it was attended by all senior leaders including party general secretary Ashok Kaul.

“Madhav ji will arrive in Jammu on 21 July and will visit Samba, Vijaypur , Kathua, Bani , Basoli and some other area,” a senior BJP leader, who attended the meeting, told Greater Kashmir on the conditions of anonymity. “His visit to Kashmir Valley too is likely but it's not been finalized yet."

Party insiders said Mahdav, also BJP's in-charge for J&K, will visit Bhasoli where he will chair a meet of district party leaders and office bearers. He will hold meetings with party functionaries at Kathua and Samba as well. “But he won’t be addressing any public gathering during his two day visit,” a senior party leader said adding, "the visit is solely focused around renewing our poll strategy."

The then forest minister Lal Singh and Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga had to resign after the public outrage over their participation in a rally organised by a fringe group, Hindu Ekta Manch in support of the accused in the Kathua rape and murder case.

Madhav, the senior BJP leader said, will also discuss the prevailing political uncertainty in the state. “All these activities are in run up to the 2019 Parliamentary elections and BJP will ensure grand success,” he said.

The visit of BJP National General Secretary will be followed by executive body meeting of party on 28 July. “Some heavyweight from Delhi will be presiding over the executive body meeting,” the senior BJP leader said adding on 28 July first there will be meeting office bearers of BJP.

During Sunday’s meeting, the BJP leaders from valley were asked to strengthen the party by reaching out to the people at grass root level. “We were asked to bring more people into party fold during meeting,” BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said. Thakur was also part of the Sunday meeting.
