Kashmiri poet Altaf Niaz dead

Srinagar: A prominent Kashmiri poet and scholar Dr Altaf Niaz passed away here this morning, official sources said.
 Niaz, 44, died due to a massive heart attack.
 He complained of chest pain and died before he could be shifted to hospital at his Hajan residence.
 A Ph.D from University of Kashmir in Persian, Niaz was teaching Persian was posted in government degree collage Handwara.
 Hailing from Hajan area of Bandipur district in north Kashmir, Niaz had several works in Kashmiri poetry and English literature to his credit. His first research work  “Music and Melodies’’ was released by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages a few months ago.
 Director Doordarshan, Srinagar, Dr Rafiq Masoodi and secretary academy Zaffar Iqbal Manhas have expressed deep shock over the sudden death of Niaz and have paid glowinbg tributes to the deceased poet.
