Two Indian air force officers including a squadron leader died while two others were injured in a road accident in Awantipora area of southern Pulwama district on Thursday, officials said.
A senior police official told Greater Kashmir that theaccident took place on Padgampora-Malangpora road, outside the air forcestation, at around 3am. The IAF has an operational base in Malangpora,Awantipora.
A source said that a speedy Scorpio vehicle in which theofficers were traveling reportedly suffered “steering failure” that led to theaccident.
The injured were immediately evacuated to a hospital, wheretheir condition is stated to be stable.
The police have lodged a case and taken up investigations,while the IAF said it would conduct an inquiry into the mishap.
