2 drug peddlers arrested: Police

Police on Saturday said it arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A statement said officers at a checkpoint established at Foreshore-Shalimar link road intercepted an Alto care (Registration No JK01P- 6522) with two persons on board, identified as Muhammad Ayoub Wani and Muhammad Altaf Parra – both residents of Sumbal Bandipora.

   

During checking, the statement said, officers recovered four kg Charas from their possession.

“They have been arrested and shifted to police station Harwan. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” said the statement.

It said a case (FIR No 58/2020) has been registered at police station Harwan and further investigation has been initiated into the case.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” said the statement. “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.”
