7-yr-old boy slips to death

A seven-year-old boy, who was coming back to home after school, slipped into a ravine from a wooden footbridge and died, here in Batholi area of Tehsil Chilli in Doda district on Friday evening.

Reports said, “The boy was crossing the footbridge alongwith other boys, when he suddenly slipped from the narrow bridge and fell intothe water. He drowned. “Due to rainfall, the wooden bridge, which has no siderailings had become slippery. At the middle of the bridge, he lost control onthe slippery log and slipped off the footbridge,” said a child who was also withthe victim.

   

“It was an accident and the boys immediately raised analarm. Soon adjoining villagers reached the spot and fished the body from theravine,” said Sub-Divisional magistrate, Gandoh, Dr Pritam Singh Thapa.

“The deceased school boy, who belonged to a nomadicfamily has been identified as Farman Ali, student of 2nd class and son ofMohammad Shafi,” the SDM added.
