Srinagar, Oct 9: Minister for CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon today informed the Legislative Assembly that 19.71 lakh rationed families were enumerated in the census 2001, which have increased to 22.73 lakh as per the census 2011.
 The Government of India has been allocating foodgrains to 18.02 lakh rationed families @35 kg per family per month on the basis of projected population of the year 2000.
 The State Government is covering the entire rationed household (19.71 lakh) families under PDS for which financial resources are being provided from the State Government for covering the additional 1.69 lakh rationed families as per the census 2001.
 He said over 3 lakh families are still uncovered under TDPS as per census 2011 and the same are likely to be covered once the Government of India adopts the figures of census 2011 and allocates the foodgrains on that basis to the State Government.
 The Minister was replying to a calling attention notice of Abdul Rehman Veeri in the House, an official statement said.
