Srinagar, Nov 9: Adapting to new ways of marketing, many companies in the Valley are showcasing their products on the roadsides to lure customers. These companies display their products under the canopies mostly set in busy markets here so that they catch the attention of more and more people. Interestingly, the marketing executives present at the sites besides providing the information about the products with live demonstrations, receive on the spot orders. The company men say the method services two purposes at the same time. "Not only you market your product, you have publicize it among the people," they said. They said the new method was being preferred over door-to-door marketing that was seen as the chief way of marketing earlier. They say the new method has been more effective in catching the eye of the people.
"Earlier we used to go from house to house for marketing goods but that was not very effective. When the marketing agents approach the homes during the day, they found mostly the women in the houses and they are reluctant to entertain the market executives," said Ajaz Omar, sales executive of "Kent Grand Mineral RO" –the company that has adapted to the new marketing ways recently, told Greater Kashmir. "Now we place our product at places like Karan Nagar, Iqbal Park that see a large public activity. People turn curious seeing the products and our team at the spot provides them with the information about the product," he said, adding, "People are given live demos of the products on the spot that was not possible in door to door marketing." The companies claim an increase in the sales with this method. They say the people either end up buying the products at the spot or consider buying the products later. "We sell two to three products a day at each canopy which is much more than door to door marketing," sales officer Eureka Forbes, Manzoor Ahmad, said.
