Kupwara, Nov 9: The people of this district have complained poor services by Automated Teller Machines of J&K Bank and State Bank of India.
 Many angry customers threatened to close their accounts with the JK Bank and SBI, if the ATM service did not improve in the district.
 "We are fed up with day to day technical snags and shortage of cash in ATMs of JK Bank at Main Chowk, Old Chowk and Hajaj Market Kupwara. Same holds true for the SBI ATMs in the district," the customers said.
 The customers appealed to the higher authorities of both banks to improve the ATM service in the district.
 The customers said the service ahead of the Eid were terrible. "On festive season for most of the time the ATMs remained out of order or ran short of cash," they said, adding that that had caused much inconvenience to the customers.
 Nazir Ahmad, a local said: "Even ATM machines installed in the heart of district did not have cash when people need it most. It is a tragedy that we did not get our own money when we require it."
 Customers alleged that despite having the country's one of the major walnut Mandi in Kupwara town, bank authorities are un-moved to improve the services of the ATMs.
 Despite repeated attempts Incharge ATM operations of J&K Bank and SBI could not be contacted.
