Ahead of the budget session 2015-16, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Ahmad Drabu today held his first pre-budget consultation meet with representatives of the business chambers and traders associations of Kashmir.

Principal Secretary Finance, B B Vyas, Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Zafar Ahmad, Additional Commissioner CT, Dr Shamim Ahmad, Director Finance, Showkat Ajaz, besides Deputy Commissioners and other officers of the state government were present on the occasion.

Finance Minister assured the representatives that their genuine demands and suggestions would be given due consideration while framing the state budget. 

He, according to an official statement, said that holding of such consultations is aimed at appreciating the problems confronting the trade, commerce and the industry at grassroots.

Drabu said the government will always encourage the stakeholders to come forward and bring forth their suggestions. "The members of the trade and industry should cooperate with the government in increasing the revenue component for the progress, development and prosperity of the state," he said.

The Minister said that simplifying business system and its policies will be among the priorities of the government and focused attention will be given to the growth of business sector by providing necessary support so that people associated with the trade, commerce and industry shall get benefitted and to increase revenue component.

He said the government is well aware of the problems of the business community and will leave no stone unturned to provide breather to revive and stabilize the ailing economy.

The representatives of KCCI and other associations pitched for upliftment and progress of trade, commerce and industry in the state.

Among others who were present in the pre-budget discussion include Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, Kashmir Economic Alliance, Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners Federation, Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association, Kashmir Economic Alliance, Kashmir Traders Federation, Kashmir Motor Drivers Association, Western Bus Service Association, All Valley Fruit Growers-cum-dealers Union, Urban Poultry Dealers Association and Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation.
