Srinagar, Nov 9: The employees of Food Corporation of India across the country today struck their work protesting alleged indifference of the corporation management towards their genuine demands.
The strike call was given by Bhartiya Khadiya Nigam Karamchari (BKNK) Sang and supported by Staff Executive Union of FCI.
Giving details chairman, BKNK Sang (Srinagar chapter) M M Rafique said the leaders of the central body of BKNK Sang and staff executive union members had yesterday a meeting with FCI management at New Delhi.
He said the meeting had failed to reach any conclusion following the "intransigence on the part of the FCI management to look into the genuine demands of the employees."
"No work was conducted at any FCI godown in the Valley," he claimed.
About the demands convenor BKNK Sang M M Pauli said: "The employees have genuine demands. Among other demands we seek post-retirement medical cover to the employees. We also demand recruitment on the posts lying vacant in FCI."
Members BKNK Sang Muhammad Ayub and M Kashoo said the Sang had not yet chalked out the future programme to press for the demands of the employees.
