Srinagar, Oct 9: Union Secretary Tourism Parviz Deewan Wednesday laid foundation stone of hostel building of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) here.
The three storey building is expected to cost Rs 735 lakh with capacity of 300 persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Deewan said that federal government has sanctioned huge funds to state of Jammu and Kashmir under various schemes. "The need is only to spend the amount on proper places to avail benefits of centre funding."
The building would compromise 3 dormitories, warden flat, warden office, 3 guest rooms, dining hall, gymnasium, laundry and multi hall for various sports and cultural activities, an official said.
Expressing delight over the development, IHM Principal Nisheeth Srivastava said that the institute is increasing its infrastructure to provide all facilities to students. He said: "The hostel facility will save time, energy and money of students who have to hire rooms outside here during going through courses in this institute."
Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture Atul Dalloo, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Er Farooq Ahmad Shah and other officials were present on the occasion, an official statement said.
