Jammu, Nov 9: Fresh consignment of 5300MT of Urea and 2650 MT of DAP would reach Jammu soon to provide adequate fertilizer to the farmers of the Jammu province during the Rabi season.
This information, according to an official statement, was given by the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hussan Mir at a review meeting to take stock of distribution of fertilizers and seeds in his first day of Secretariat in office chamber Jammu.
Minister of State for Agriculture, R&B, Health and Medical Education, Javid Ahmed Dar, Principal Secretary Agriculture, Sonali Kumar, Director Agriculture, Jammu, Registrar Co-operative, MD JAKFED, representatives of Chambel, IFCO and IPL Corporations were present in the meeting.
Mir said that the commitment was made by Joint Secretary of Agriculture, Government of India while he talked with him on phone during the meeting.
He directed Director Agriculture, Jammu to provide genuine demand of fertilizers required to farmers at block level to this office today and added that as soon as the consignment of urea and DAP fertilizers would reach Jammu, it would be distributed among the farmers at the earliest without any delay.
The Ministers said that the farmers should not suffer any more for want of fertilizers and gave on spot directions to all the concerned that they should get quality and quantity fertilizers at the proper time.
Later, the Ministers also reviewed the seed distribution in the province and were informed that adequate quality seeds of Rabi crop are available in the sale counters across the Jammu province for the farmers. About 1300 qtls. of wheat seeds have been distributed among the farmers till date, he was informed.
