Srinagar, Oct 9: The International Travel and Tourism Exhibition under 'India Travel Mart' kicked off at Zabarwan Park on the famous Dal banks here on Saturday, was formally inaugurated by Nasir Aslam Wani, minister of state for Tourism this morning.
The three-day exhibition billed as the first of its kind in the Valley by India Travel Mart shall conclude on Oct 10.
The exhibition has been providing a "meeting point" to the tourism traders from across India and overseas. It showcases products of travel, tourism, hospitality, leisure and other related industries from various parts of India.
"It is aimed at bringing the Industry face-to-face with the travel trade, Corporate Buyer and the end-customer with the requisite purchasing power," Director Tourism Farooq Shah told Greater Kashmir.
Managing Director, India Travel Mart, Ajay Gupta said the event provided a comfortable and festive ambience to help forge a mutually beneficial business relationship among tourist traders.
"This is a great opportunity to rub shoulders with the industry people and travel enthusiasts," he added.
"It's a rendezvous that will leave an impact on the mind of every visitor and potential traveller", he said.
'India International Travel Mart', which is India's premier travel and tourism Exhibition brand, holds such exhibitions at country's major markets at Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Cochin.
It is for the first time that such an exhibition is being held here.
There are around twenty participants from across India besides International Tourism delegation from Thailand and Malaysia.
Among the local tour operators and service providers, Mushtaq Group of Hotels, Ahad Resorts, TASK and J&K Tourism Alliance are participating.
