Srinagar, Oct 9: Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad has said that Rs. 4.50 crore would be spent on various developmental works under NREGA scheme in Kangan constituency.
He appealed the people to come forward and take benefits of various welfare schemes launched by the Union and State government.
The Minister was addressing at a function of distribution of IAY cheques organized by Rural Development Department at Kangan today. He distributed cheques among 68 beneficiaries of Kangan under the scheme on the occasion.
Mian Altaf said Rs 75 lakh as assistance has been provided to 450 cases in Kangan constituency under IAY so far. He said the focus of the government is to work for the uplift of the weaker sections especially people living in far-flung areas.
He said in this regard various welfare schemes have been launched by the Central and the State government adding that people should take benefit of these schemes. He said the daily remuneration under NREGA has been enhanced from Rs.70 to Rs.110.
The Minister directed the concerned offices to work with utmost zeal and dedication. He asked the officers to undertake a fresh survey of Kangan constituency and identify the deserving cases who yet not are registered under IAY scheme so that they can be benefitted under the scheme.
