Srinagar, Oct 9: Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, held a two-day Course Coordinators' Meeting at SKUAST-Kashmir, Shuhama.
The course coordinators from 70 institutes across the country at SKUAST-K discussed and reviewed the performance of PG Biotechnology programs being carried out in various universities and institutions of the country.
Pertinently, the inaugural function of the event was presided over by Dr. Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir and Dr M. K. Bhan, Secretary DBT was the Chief Guest.
The Vice-Chancellor at the inaugural function said this year had been very special for SKUAST-Kashmir "as the university has come into the limelight not only in the country but at the global level in the field of biotechnology by developing first Pashmina cloned goat."
Dr Bhan urged the scientists, coordinators and the postgraduate scholars to develop work ethics, build experience along with education, develop entrepreneurship and integrate biotechnology with other disciplines of science.
He also stressed the need for establishing a DBT Partner Centre in the University which will cater to the infrastructure and capacity building of the various faculties of SKUAST-Kashmir and other Universities and institutions of the valley.
