Veterinary students bring laurels to SKUAST

Students of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K have secured some top ranks in the recently held 20th All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA-JRF).

Students of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K have secured some top ranks in the recently held 20th All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA-JRF).

The entrance was held by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for 2015-16. According to Professor Sarfaraz Ahmad Wani, Dean FVSc & AH, out of 40 students from the faculty who had appeared in the entrance, 32 have qualified.

Wani said that among the qualifiers 18 have got selected for the award of junior research fellowship (JRF) of which 17 students were in the ranks of first 25 qualifiers. 

Sofi Aaqib Rashid, Sheikh Firdous, Aadil Majeed and  Shahid Nabi have secured 3rd, 6th, 8th and 21st rank respectively in the discipline of Animal science (open category), while Sajad Bashir, Asgar-ud-din, Siraj-ud-din and Nawas Sharif-ud-din have got 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th rank respectively in the scheduled tribe category.

Similarly, Asif Qayoom, Khalid Bashir, Qazi Sahadat and Kurat ul Ain have secured 3rd, 5th, 11th and 12th rank respectively in the discipline of veterinary sciences. Aijaz Ali secured 1st position in OBC category while Padma Chasdol secured 7th position in ST category.

He expressed satisfaction for the outstanding performance of the students in the examination and congratulated them for the achievement
