Agriculture Technology Information Centre- ATIC, Directorate of Extension today organized an interactive session of SKUAST-Kashmir scientists and farmers.
The farmers at the event were provided technological knowhow regarding orchard sanitation, management of drainage in rabi crops and strategies to combat frost injury to the standing crop and orchards, a SKUAST handout here said.
The farmers were advised to collect the soil samples, if weather permits, for analysis of various nutrients before application of fertilizers in the coming season.
They were asked to ensure proper drainage system of the orchards and nurseries.
"Follow scientific methods of pruning and training of fruit trees and paste cut ends with Bordeaux mixture," the farmers were advised.
Further, they were asked to that sowing of onion seedlings (varieties – Yellow Globe and Red Globe) for bulb production can be continued and for that purpose they should use only healthy and well established seedlings.
"If the transplanting of Kale (Sag) and Knol khol for seed production is delayed, transplant true to type plants without removing the apical rosette in Kale and crown in Knol khol at a spacing of 30 x 30 cm and 50 x 30 cm in Kale and Knol khol, respectively."
