Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali today said the government contemplates introducing consumer affairs as subject in all schools from next academic session.
He was speaking at a symposium organized at Yognanda College Of Engineering (YCET) in connection with National Consumer Day to be observed on 25th December.
Elaboration on the significance of this move, the Minister said it will enable the students to understand their basic rights and responsibilities as consumers.
Zulfkar said every citizen is a consumer in one or the other way and an "informed citizenry accustomed about their rights and responsibilities can only avail benefits of several legislations meant for safeguarding their interests."
He sought public cooperation in eliminating "unscrupulous trade practices from the society."
