President, Regal Chowk Traders' Association, Manzoor Ahmed Mir today urged the government to pay attention to the development of the historic Regal Chowk market.

Chairing the first meeting of office bearers after assuming charge of the association, Mir said that successive regimes have failed to provide for the developmental needs of Regal Chowk market, a hub of business in Srinagar.

"The manholes in the market are open, streetlights not in working condition and the parking continues to be a problem. This has turned the market into a mess," Mir said.

He said the market has been ignored even as "another season of development" has begun.

He sought immediate inclusion of the traders in the list flood victims whose names have not yet been included in this list.

The RCTA General Secretary FarhanKitab who also heads media and publicity of KTMF hailed the J&K Bank authorities for commencing work on the much-needed ATM in the marketplace. "We hope it will be thrown open soon," Kitab said in a statement. Meanwhile, the association appealed the Governor NN Vohra to pay due attention to the development of this market.
