Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, SKUAST-Kashmir celebrated World Veterinary Day on Saturday.
The grand function held in this behalf today also marked culmination of a series of events organized over a month by the Faculty including plantation drive, cleanness drive, literary events and competitions, clinical camps and sports events.
The function was attended by veterinarians from Kashmir, officers of SKUAST-K, and scientists, non-teaching staff, and students of the Faculty.
Vice chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir Prof. Nazeer Ahmed in his address impressed upon the veterinary scientists to work for the upgradation of livestock sector and technology dissemination for modernisation of livestock based industry among the growing entrepreneurs.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized upon scientists to take European countries as a model for establishing a sustainable livestock industry in order to achieve self-sufficiency in animal products and by-products.
Dean Faculty, Prof. Sarfaraz A. Wani highlighted various achievements of scientists and students in particular and the institution in general.
Prof. H. U. Malik, Head Veterinary Medicine highlighted importance of the day for world veterinarians' vis-à-vis theme for the year "Continuing Education With a One Health Focus".
