LMD fines Delhi based firm for violating rules

The Legal Metrology Department today booked a Delhi based Electrical firm namely VCI Trading Co, for supplying Co-axial Cables RG-6 and other PVC Wires and cables to the valley in violation of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rule, 2011.

The Legal Metrology Department today booked a Delhi based Electrical firm namely VCI Trading Co, for supplying Co-axial Cables RG-6 and other PVC Wires and cables to the valley in violation of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rule, 2011. 

"The cables and wires were not carrying printed MRP on the label nor the consumer care details, address, size and quantity in metric units," a spokesperson of the department said. 

The Wires and cables were seized from the local distributor and the legal notice was served to the firm. The firm in response to the legal notice confessed the lapse and ensured the department that the fresh supplies to the valley shall carry all the mandatory declarations. The Deputy Controller Enforcement for Kashmir slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the firm for the lapse.
