50 youth undergoing food processing training: Dir Horticulture

About 50 youth from various districts of Kashmir are being trained in food processing techniques at Processing and Canning Centre, Lal Mandi here.

The youth are being trained in various fruit and vegetableprocessing fields including tomato puree, apple jam, apple juice, applechutney, various jams, jellies, squashes, pickles etc for setting up smallscale processing units.

   

This was said during a visit of Director Horticulture,Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat to Fruit and vegetable processing and Canning centre,Lal Mandi.

Director Horticulture said that the main aim of thisprocessing and canning centre is to impart training to the interested people inthe field of Fruit and Vegetable processing so that they are able to processvarious types of foods (Fruits and Vegetables) at a small scale, either attheir home or in small scale processing units.

During the visit, the candidates put forth the demand forenhancing stipend and providing for accommodation facilities in SrinagarDistrict. Director Horticulture assured them every possible support and on spotinstructions were passed to Chief Canning Instructor, Kashmir for arrangingexposure visits and proper guidance/techniques to the trainees.
