Battered and bruised, Kashmir's business community has braved the aftermath of worst ever urban disaster with resilience and courage to restart their activities without any government help and financial support.

A walk through the main market of Lal Chowk and its adjacent bazaar on September 16, 2014 when flood water had started receding made people think that hustle and bustle in the city centre would not be the same in years to come.

But, the courage shown by business community has made everybody rethink as Lal Chowk within few months after floods again welcomed shoppers and guests from outside Srinagar district with same gaiety and affection.

"Kashmiris have it in their DNA, no matter how difficult times come but they will always find way to battle it out," a trader said.
