The government has informed Jammu and Kashmir High Court that a circular will be issued with regard to rates of ration items as well as about a month's credit facility to consumers for purchasing ration.
State's Advocate General Jahangir Iqbal Ganai told a division bench of the Court that Director Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Kashmir will issue the circular in this regard and the status report will be filed by August 1.
The court recorded the "submission" of the AG, while hearing Public interest Litigation by J&K Peoples Forum.
In his response to the status report filed by director CAPD, the petitioner pleaded that the court direction on providing one month's credit facility was not being implemented by the government.
The petitioner also told the court that CAPD staff is also creating confusion about the rates fixed by the government under Food Security Act and Under the State Sponsored Scheme namely Mufti Muhammad Food Entitled Scheme.
The AG told the court that immediate steps will be taken to supply the ration, LPG cylinders Kerosene to the consumers in the affected areas.
In its status report, Jammu and Kashmir Bank stated that out of 589 ATMs in Kashmir, 364 are functional while out of 442 branches of the bank, 246 were functional on July 25.
