CCIK demands GST exemption for Kashmir handicrafts

The Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry-Kashmir (CCIK) has demanded GST exemption for Kashmir handicrafts.

In a statement here today the CCIK said the GST has badlyimpacted the Kashmir handicraft sector. The traders’ body appealed to theGovernor administration to make a strong plea before the GST council forexemption for Kashmir Handicrafts.

   

“Handicrafts in Kashmir are mainly done by cottage industry,which is manned by artisans of lower incomes. GST is a burden on this work ofart and is equivalent of applying tax on the hands of these artisans,” it said.
