Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries Wednesday flayed the state government for providing paddy fields to Indian railways for establishing railway network in Kashmir. In a statement, CCIK states that on the one hand the Government is banning construction on paddy fields while on the other hand lakhs of kanals of such land have been provided to the Indian Railways to create railway system which has nothing but destroyed the eco-system and fragile environment of this place.
"The bunds created by the railways, running parallel to river Jhelum, proved a barrier to the flood water which has backlashed by inundating the city of Srinagar," it states.
It states, that CCIK has time and again been bringing to the notice of concerned authorities the immense difficulties faced by the people of Kashmir: be it a trader, employee or common man or others. " As if the problems were not enough, the government introduced draconian National Food Security Act (NFSA) which has forced local populace o stand in queues and beg for everything and that too when you are paying. This makes us to conclude that this part of the State has reduced from consumer State to beggar State," it reads.
