COMMEMORATION OF 15 YEARSIN J&K | HDFC announces scholarships for underprivileged children

Launches AMB Rs 1,000 saving account, e-inaugurates 15 ATMs

To commemorate 15 years of its successful banking operations in Jammu and Kashmir, HDFC Bank – the leading private bank in the country – on Wednesday announced special educational scholarships for the children of the state facing economic hardships.

HDFC Bank also e-inaugurated 15 new ATMs in Kashmir andlaunched a special savings account with average monthly minimum balance (AMB)of Rs 1000. 

Speaking at the commemoration function held here, ZubairIqbal, senior Vice president and circle head J&K said the scholarshipsunder the Parivartan programme in the state is for children whose families arefacing a sudden loss of income due to crisis and are at the risk of droppingout.

The Educational Crisis Scholarship Support  2019 is meant to cover students from 6th to 12th standard studying in  recognised Private and government run schoolsand students pursuing  undergraduate,post-graduate or PhD Courses (Full time or Part time)Diploma, ITI, andpolytechnic courses  in recognizedcolleges or universities.

The students can apply online for this initiative. Thedeadline for filling the forms has been set as July 15.

Talking about the bank's achievements in the state, Iqbalsaid, "Over the past 15 years it has been an honour serving our customers inJammu and Kashmir. The ATM's were launched in Batamaloo, Habak, Brein, NayakBagh, Parimpora, Tangmarg, Baramulla, Handwara, Banihal, Shopian, Bijbehara,Khanabal, Sopore, Kulgam and Chini Chowk (Anantnag). 

Iqbal said the bank has achieved a consistent growth rateand the largest private bank network of 80 branches and 220 ATMs in the state.

About the Rs 1000 SB account offer, he said, "It also offerspersonal Accidental Death Cover of Rs 5 lakh on its debit card. The keybenefits include 5 percent saving at select merchants, a set number of free ATMtransactions and free Insta Alerts among other things."
