Cross-LoC bus services, trade via Salamabad, Poonch routes suspended

Amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after Pulwama attack, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday have ordered suspension of cross-Line of Control bus services and trade.

Weekly bus services between two Kashmirs via Uri in Kashmir division and Poonch in Jammu division run every Monday across LoC, whereas trade takes place via same routes from Tuesday to Friday every week.

When contacted deputy commissioner, Poonch, Rahul Yadav said the cross-LoC bus service via Poonch-Rawlakote route scheduled for Monday has been cancelled and the trade which has to begin for the week on Tuesday has been kept under suspension.

Similarly, the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad cross LoC bus service via Uri was also suspended on Monday.

“We have been informed that the cross LoC bus service stand cancelled as of now” said Baseer-ul-Haque, SDM Uri. However, he did not clarify about the trade whether it will take place on Tuesday or not.

The cross LoC bus service was started in 2005 and is considered as one of the important confidence building measure between India and Pakistan.
