‘Departmental farms are practicing modern techniques in crop science’

Srinagar, Jan 10: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Allowpora, Shopian.

While interacting with the concerned officers and technical staff of the farm, Director said that SMFs are the most important assets of the Department and to achieve the target of self-reliance in the field of seed production and assured seed availability to the farming community of the union territory with respect to all the crops grown in the region, Department is committed to promote these SMFs on modern scientific lines.

   

He said the departmental farms are practicing modern scientific techniques in crop science, during the seed production of different agricultural crops.

Director Agriculture exhorted the concerned officers to organise awareness programmes, invite farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to these farms and hold demonstration sessions with them, so that the modern scientific technology could be transmitted to the grassroots level in a comprehensive manner.

Later, the Director visited Tahab, Wasoora, Palpora and some other areas of Pulwama District. He inaugurated a Hi-tech polyhouse at Wasoora Palpora and held interaction with the farmers at many places.
