Dir agri holds meeting with insecticides companies’ representatives

Agriculture department Saturday held a meeting with a group of insecticide manufacturing companies to inform them about the new notifications and amendments issued under the Insecticides Act 1968 and Insecticides Rule, 1971.

The meeting according to an official spokesperson was chaired by director agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, who is also controller insecticides.

   

The director agriculture asked the manufacturing units to ensure availability of quality pesticides and fungicides in the state for the farmers and regulate their distribution stocking and sale strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Insecticides Act 1968 and Rules 1971.

He instructed enforcement agency of the department to increase vigil and monitoring for eradication of spurious pesticides from the market which affect the agriculture and allied sectors in the valley.

He asserted that the pesticide companies having business interest should regulate their business activity strictly in accordance to the provisions of Insecticide Act 1968 and Rules made under.

“All pesticide manufacturing companies operating in Kashmir Division should maintain their warehouses strictly as per the norms and   display the detailed list mentioning name, address, contact details of the employees outside their warehouse which is lacking in most of the companies. Wholesale/retail pesticide dealers should separate the expired pesticides with a bold label mentioned it outside the packet,” Andrabi said.
