Erring traders in Kupwara, Bandipora fined

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)), Kupwara Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 64,000 on six food business operators for selling substandard and misbranded food items.

A team of officials inspected various shopkeepers in thedistrict wherein they found sub-standard services and consumables in theunhygienic condition provided to the people. Meanwhile in Bandipora a joint market checking squads of variousdepartments realised a fine of around Rs 8,200 from 17 erring shopkeepers underdifferent acts.

   

On Wednesday a joint team of Legal Metrology, Urban LocalBodies, Food Safety, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) andRevenue lead by Assistant Commissioner Revenue inspected various markets inBandipora including Gousia Market, Plan, Khadim Market, Nowpora,Neberpora,  GulshanChowk and JamiaJadeedand conducted surprise check of various shops including vegetable and fruitselling outlets, meat sellers, restaurants, drug stores, roadside vendors andgeneral stores and realized fine of Rs. 82,00 from the erring shopkeepers forovercharging and for violating Legal Metrology Laws and government approvedrate list. The department of Legal Metrology also registered cases against 17shopkeepers for violating different rules besides collecting fine from them.
